The Ternes district, in the 17th arrondissement, is one of the most upscale neighborhoods, along with Plaine Monceau.

It is bordered by Place de l’Étoile, Avenue de la Grande-Armée, Porte Maillot, Boulevard Périphérique, Porte de Champerret, Rue Rennequin, Boulevard de Courcelles, Place des Ternes, and Avenue de Wagram.

To the south, the neighborhood is lined by Avenue de la Grande-Armée, separating it from Chaillot (formerly Passy). The Avenue des Ternes, the historic central axis, connects it to the Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré toward central Paris and to Avenue du Roule leading to Neuilly-sur-Seine and La Défense.
